I’ve been a fan of Maiovvi ever since his muscular album “Shadow of the Bloodstained Kiss” arrived on Seed in 2009. Although this sound is relatively popular right now within the confines of dance music, Maiovvi does lace his compositions with a frenetic sense of cinematic drama that marks him apart. “The Thorns of Love” on Caravan last year showed a further maturity, eschewing the dancefloor for something more melancholy and ultimately satisfying. Fans will love his new double album release “Battlestar Replica/Trial by Bullet” on Seed which has just come out and will be reviewed shortly on this site. Be warned though that this is just his side project - he’s a noise/experimental producer by day.
