Versalife - Night Time Activities Pt 2
Clone West Coast
Boris Bunnik has made a name for himself under his Conforce moniker with some sleek techno that admittedly has never really been to my liking, being a little flat in my opinion. However, the electro under his Versalife psuedonym has more bite and substance. This follows on from the first “Night Time Activities”, albeit taking a darker, more mysterious turn - introspective rather than extroverted.
It’s hard to pick out a real dancefloor track on this EP, but don’t let that put you off - “Electronic Suspect” in particular squirms and slaloms malevolently at a steady 110 bpm, building up tension without having to pick up the tempo. Although there isn’t a particular composition that stands out here, all four on the EP combine to produce an atmospheric piece of work. Last track “Observing the Outland” in particular is the soundtrack to a lonely walk through cosmic dustfields.
