DJ Stingray - Misinformation Campaign

Trust

Sherard Ingram is on a bit of a roll right now - after the peculiar, twisted and downright weird spasms of the Urban Tribe project last year, his DJ Stingray moniker continues on the hi-tempo electro front with another release for much-vaunted Viennese label Trust. The title of this EP is wonderfully apt - pouring in a small slice of Orwellian fear over some sparse bass pulses and arctic synth washes, he manages to hit you with a real dose of uncertainty. This isn’t all-out foot to the floor bangers, it’s 4 tracks of menacing snarls styled in a unique way by the true myrmidon of Detroit electro. “Herd Instinct” and “Who’s watching the watchers” in particular stand out, but the EP as a whole doesn’t have a weak track - Ingram’s unique take on the genre doesn’t sound like it will ever be distilled into something more palatable for the masses and we all know that’s a good thing.
