Lux
Two epics from Chicago’s Traxx in a week, this being a new release with partners in crime JTC and D’Marc Cantu on Swiss label Lux, whose dalliance with acid started with their previous release from Jared Wilson. There’s something endearingly lo-fi about Traxx’s sleek contribution to this 3 artist EP, his being another rollercoaster jak anthem this time with some deliciously insane Japanese vocal talents. JTC and D’Marc Cantu’s effort do pale a little in comparison and whilst the former’s is meaty enough, it’s functional without having the raw punch that characterised recent releases from him. The latter’s shimmers with some great synthlines but doesn’t quite have the direction of the other two.
