Levon Vincent - Man or Mistress

Novel Sound

New Yorker Levon Vincent has a canny knack of amplifying his productions as they always sound so much more alive than a lot of other records in the genre. “Man or Mistress” is no different - ride cymbals and a Derrick May-esque synth snake and intertwine together to produce a hefty dancefloor climax which will no doubt be filling this summer’s clubs. The balance is perfect: huge, underslung bass weighted against a hypnotic top range.

The second track “No Regrets” on the B-side isn’t bad either, with some industrial weirdness pinning down a very large bassline. Vincent straddles the fine line between techno and house without losing the prime ingredients for either of them.
