Despite not really hearing any direct link to the famous architect, this is an excellent record from debutant Bristolian El Kid. Although the stabs on the A-side have their own charm, it’s the busier (sic) energy of “112” that is worth having a listen to. Some beautiful washes of sound are complimented by a ghostly lead synthline - the result is a song that builds slowly but steadily to a hypnotic climax. It doesn’t really go anywhere in terms of progression, but the distinctive singularity of his sound is enough on this occasion.
