Legowelt - Sark Island Acid EP

Legowelt-Sark Island Acid (L.I.E.S.005) by L.I.E.S.

L.I.E.S

There’s a lot of love for Danny Wolfers at Bleep43. The guy just keeps making techno that’s a) unique sounding and b) full of analogue warmth. Sure, a lot of his records sound a bit like the last one, but the fact is that no-one else makes records like him. Add some amusing track titles and fantastic off-the-wall cinematic stories and you’ve got arguably the best artist in the whole genre.

This latest one combines documentary soundtrack atmospheres with irresistible acid lines as you might expect, but the standout cut is “SeaofNuhuhu”, which is a lot more melancholic than other material he’s made recently. It’s just a shame that Wolfers didn’t specifically document Andre Gardes’ invasion that happened to this obscure Channel Island, the last feudal state in Europe until recently, in 1990.
