Bleep43 June 12

Many thanks to those came down on 12th June. Your support is really appreciated. We’re having a summer break now but will be back soon. See photos taken by photographer Max Duley.

Alex “Omar” Smith has leapt to the forefront of Detroit House with the emergence of his esoteric take on underground electronic music, and a steadfast refusal to go about things anything but on his own terms.  His FXHE label has churned out a number of idiosyncratic records such as “Jit”, “Congaless” and “Psychotic Photosynthesis” that define his particular vision. Riding high after a critically acclaimed Fabric Mix CD release, we welcome Alex for a 4 hour set.

We’re excited about Donato Dozzy. He’s the sort of DJ that comes along once in a while and shows you something different. His taste in minimal techno is exceptional, but he infuses his style with an older, wiser vision, inflecting contemporary sounds with atmospheric drones and older long-gone techno records that you never knew existed. It’s all somewhat psychedelic, but pulsating. Making his UK debut, Donato, who was resident afterhours DJ at Panorama Bar will be kicking things off in true warm-up mode for us at 10, so make sure you arrive early to catch what we expect to be an epic start.

Co-founder of Bleep43, Emile Facey’s Plant43 project grows steadily each year. 2008 saw gigs at Bloc, Athens and Latvia, and he’s just released a split EP with Annie Hall on Spanish label Semantica as well now being one of the main acts on much-vaunted Ai records . His live set is unique for each show, so expect to hear mostly new material, especially that mooted for our first release on the Bleep43 label soon.

Having been a regular live participant for us since 2003, Bea Brennan aka Orphan is now a firmly established member of Bleep43, and will be releasing her first tracks for us soon. She’s played at Bloc, and alongside the likes of Surgeon, Convextion and DJ Stingray. Sadly, Bea was unable to play this time - she was knocked off her bike a couple of days before the party and while she’s okay, she was pretty sore. We were all really disappointed.
